Kelly G, Class of 2013

After reading "The 17 Essential Qualities of a Team Player" this past summer, I really liked the quote, "It's not what you are going to do, but it's what you are doing now that counts"( Hill 120). This quote is meaningful to me because actions speak louder than words and people do not like when someone says something but does not follow through on it. Teamates have to be trusted by one another to play well on the field. Everyone must do as they say or the team will not work as a team but as individuals.

As I have been looking to improve myself as an individual, I have used my family as a mentor or role model because they are always there and around for me. They have been through thick and thin with me and have helped me developed some of my personality. I know whenever i come home from a bad day or good day my family will be there to encourage me to keep going.

My favorite food in the cafeteria is the rainbow M&M cookie.

For the health of our team, I will commit to sacrificing soda for this season because it gives you a sugar rush for a while and then you crash and have no energy to play any sports.

For this season, I will be more consistent with consuming fruits and energizing food for our team because I want to be energized and ready to play field hockey to help and support my team.

For myself, I am setting three, specific individual goals regarding: fitness, flexibility and skill.
My fitness goal is to be able to run up and the full the field during games and not be as tired.
My flexibility goal is to to touch my toes by the end of the season.
My skill goal is to master the back sweep and have total control of the ball.

While at practice or on the field during games, I want to support and encourage teamates for my team because then they will not quit and keep fighting for the ball.

For our team, I want for us to act as a team and not individuals because it really helps our playing skills on and off the field.
