#4. Look Me in the Eyes - October 1st, via e-mail (enclosed .mp4 file)

As I walk through the halls today, I will prepare myself and my teammates by looking into the eyes of every field hockey teammate I see. This look is to engage her in preparation for today's competition. When a teammate looks into my eyes, she is seeking the teammate she wants me to be. She is searching for my best, the best teammate I am, to recognize - to be confident that the best teammate I can be will arrive for our competition and be my best for the team!

Coaches Hoopes, Molieri, Hettinger and Alexander recognize what is within me as a Lower Merion Field Hockey student-athlete; even if I cannot see it yet. My coaches want for me to achieve the potential which is within me! They look me in the eyes and want me to be the teammate they believe I can be.

#3. Adversity - champion myself for my team - September 30th, via e-mail (enclosed .mp3 file)
When four minutes are availed to me, I will listen to the enclosed .mp3 file.

Coach Alexander wants me to execute nine actions:
1) Consider the message.
2) Self-reflect about how I am as an individual
3) Reflect about how I think our teammates are committed to us (the team) as a whole
4) Identify a quote form the file that has meaning/significance for me.
5) Excerpt the quote by writing it on a 3x5 card (quote on the lined side, my name on the non-lined side in the top right quadrant).
6) Explain (by writing), on the non-lined side of the 3x5 card, why it has meaning/significance for me.
7) Verbally share my selected quote with two teammates. I will complete this task by reading the quote then explaining to her why the quote I selected has meaning for me.
8) Below my name on the 3x5 card, I will write the first and last name of the two teammates with who I shared my quote.
9) Carry the quote with me until Coach Alexander provides further instruction.

I will consider and remind myself:
It doesn't matter against whom I am competing, that always changes. I am competing against the ball and myself; I am competing for my team. It's about competing against the ball. I ALWAYS compete to successfully receive it, I ALWAYS compete to successfully pass it, I can also compete to shoot it -- that's what it's all about! How effectively am I competing for my team...?
